Installed EIDE CD-ROM drive does not work due to loose CD-ROM controller card.
Cause:
The CD-ROM drive controller card is loose.
Solution:
Push down on the card to re-seat controller card into its expansion slot. Replace the computer cover, connect all power cords, and turn the computer on.
WARNING: Electrical shock hazard! Make sure the power is turned off and the external power cables have been disconnected before removing the computer cover.
CAUTION 1: This task should be performed by a qualified computer technician.
CAUTION 2: Please observe steps to reduce the potential damage to computer components from electrostatic discharge.
1) Remove the computer cover.
2) Using even pressure on the CD-ROM drive controller, gently press down on the expansion card to securely seat the card into the expansion slot.
CAUTION: Keep the card vertical while inserting it into an expansion, and be careful not to bend the CD-ROM drive controller. Bending the CD-ROM drive controller can damage the circuitry.
3) Replace the computer cover, and reconnect the power cord to the computer.
4) Turn on the computer.
